Perched high in the hills of Palm Beach, Porta Rossa is a refined Mediterranean villa currently undergoing a considered transformation by Interlock, delivering a complete design and construct solution that balances timeless character with contemporary luxury. The project encompasses a series of substantial alterations designed to elevate both the functionality and experience of the home. The existing second level is being extended, while a private wellness retreat is being introduced, incorporating a bespoke grotto, powder room and sauna. Accessed via a new four-level lift, the retreat is positioned to take full advantage of the surrounding landscape, overlooking a striking new infinity pool. Throughout the residence, new doors are being installed to enhance the connection between the interiors and their surrounds, while the existing guest studio is undergoing a complete refurbishment, creating a more refined and cohesive accommodation experience for family and guests. The challenging hillside site has added another layer of complexity to the build. With extremely limited access for conventional excavation equipment, the Interlock team has undertaken the painstaking process of hand excavation, removing more than 100 tonnes of earth by bucket. This demanding approach reflects the level of care, ingenuity and craftsmanship required to deliver exceptional outcomes in some of Sydney's most challenging locations. Porta Rossa is a project defined by thoughtful transformation, technical complexity and an uncompromising approach to quality — creating a Mediterranean retreat that is distinctly Palm Beach.
